Wrist tattoo

This tattoo is very simple, yet the delicate thin strokes and the elegant serifs make it look anything but simple. All of the lines are pretty much the same weight, but it sometimes looks like some of the lines differ.

I didn’t realize how blurry this picture was when I took it. I think this tattoo is interesting because it is a block of text. The text is center aligned, but I feel like it could have been set a little better. The serif typeface is very clean and appears to be aligned pretty straight. Although it is probably traced on when the tattoo is applied, it is probably difficult to keep all the characters on a straight line.

Chest Tattoo

This tattoo is visibly faded, but it is still legible. The very ornate serifs on the first letters of the words are close to being illegible, but they can still be read. The red color in the back almost looks natural, but it does provide some nice contrast to help the black text pop out a little more.

One can tell that the tattoo is a little older and it is fading a little. The decorative serifs really keep the font some character. The pink inside the wider strokes provide a nice contrast to the lighter black strokes.

I think the thing I like the most about this tattoo is the arrangement. Both of the separate parts of the tattoo are on an angle and they are separated by a very large image. I have also posted work from this artist in the past and I think you can see some of his style come out in his script. I admire the subtle changes in stroke he is able to achieve while keeping the tattoo very neat and tidy.

Upper Chest Tattoo

This typeface is a more decorative font. It has a lot of different weight in the strokes and at some points it appears to almost be illegible. I like how the artist did the letter “h”, they gave it a descender which gives it a little more interest than the rest of the characters.

Arm Tattoo

The person whose arm this is could not remember the name of the artist.
This tattoo is using a serif typeface, but because of the size of the tattoo, it is difficult to clearly see the serifs. When looked at from farther away, it looks much more clear. Also the “o” in monster is replaced by a red heart which adds a little interest to the tattoo. The letter spacing is tight, however none of the letters overlap each other.

Wrist Tattoo

This tattoo is interesting because it was the artists first time doing a tattoo. This is completely evident in the craftsmanship of the tattoo. Some of the lines are uneven and it is obvious this was done completely freehand. It’s not the greatest example of typography but it is interesting to see something that isn’t professional.

Forearm Tattoo

This script font is also hand written but it is much more decorative than the previous post. The bottom of the letters is much different than the top half. The swirled serifs at the beginning and end give the type an elegant look.

This is an example of a hand written script. What interests me the most about the type is the very small spaces in the stroke of the letters. It gives it a delicate, light feel. I feel as though the letters don’t look as heavy.
